The chest x-rays shows an expanded medial end of the right clavicle with irregular margins. The lung fields and rest of the bony skeleton appears normal.
The child had high inflammatory marker and went onto have an ultrasound scan of the affected area which showed a hyper vascular fluid collection arising from the right sternoclavicular joint with a strong possibility of right sternoclavicular joint septic arthritis.
The patient was admitted, treated with intravenous antibiotics with a good response.
With thanks to Dr. Cassandra Host for the case.
