The chest x-rays show the spinnaker sign which is a radiological finding in neonatal pneumomediastinum.
Also referred to as the thymic wing sign, it indicates lobes of the thymus displaced laterally by the mediastinal air, resembling the headsails of a boat.
This neonate was managed conservatively by the specialist and responded well.
