All the syringe pumps in your department are broken and you need to prescribe 1L of fluid over 10 hours. How many drops per minute is that?
- 25
- 33
- 100
Look on the back of the giving set and you will see the value for the drop factor – usually 15, 20 or 60 drops / ml.
And to work out drops per minute = ( total volume to be given (mls) / time (min) ) x drop factor (drops / ml)

Thanks for the help with this – I am sure it will come in handy.
